Natural Boulder / Step Creations
This is one of our specialties and truly an art form. We build natural looking steps that appear to have been formed by Mother Nature. Combining large stone slabs and boulders, we can scale the steepest slope or a modest rise. Plantings enhance the beauty of the natural stone and blend into the surrounding landscape.
Inviting the viewer up the hillside to another outdoor destination, these steps beckon. They almost appear to have materialized out of the natural bedrock in the North Stamford hillside. Note the simple and lush masses of Cotoneaster, nepeta, Spirea, and daylilies, which decorate and soften the hillside.
These natural boulder and fieldstone slab steps are the perfect transition from the pool spa to the pool deck of the irregular shaped, natural-looking pool in Westport, CT.
On this very steeply graded property in North Greenwich, the homeowner needed access to the lower yard where the children play. We created these natural stone and boulder steps for safe passage between the two levels. Note the natural looking plantings along the steps which enhance the hillside.
With limited space on a very steeply sloped yard, we carved out a little bit of heaven for the owners of this Scarsdale home, constructing an elegant bluestone terrace, surrounded by a fieldstone retaining wall with rock face bluestone cap and featuring a built-in grill that the owners use year-round. These natural steps work beautifully with the more formal patio, allowing the homeowners to move seamlessly from the main house to the upper yard. Note the plantings on the hillside which enhance and beautify the hillside year-round.
In New Canaan, the addition of a poolhouse in the backyard of this property created some grade changes. Access from one area of the backyard to another was facilitated beautifully by these lovely boulder and stone steps. Note the lush and colorful plantings which enhance the journey.
In North Stamford, an extremely steeply sloped backyard was a challenging spot to add a pool. Access from the main house to the natural shaped pool at the edge of the woodland, called for our boulder and stone slab steps. The long journey to and from the pool is eased by the flights of steps and the lovely plantings.
